What is Citizenship Amendment Act ?

CAB is already a law related to citizenship. There are few amedments are done by the Narendra Modi government and changed its name from CAB to CAA. Let me tell you one more thing about CAA. There are many full forms of CAA, Coastal Aquaculture Authority is one out of them.

This new law has been enacted with some amendments to the Citizenship Act 1955. Under this new citizenship law, Citizenship will be granted to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Zoroastrian and Christian immigrants who are persecuted in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Under this new law, 6 communities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh which include Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians will be given citizenship of India. This new law will benefit those who have entered India on or before 31 December 2014 from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. They may have faced “religious persecution or fear of religious persecution” in their native countries.

Why CAA is Opposing

Under this new Citizenship Amendment Act, a provision has been made not to grant citizenship to illegal Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who came to India. Therefore this law is being opposed. Although this is also a big reason, but it is not the only reason due to which this new law is being opposed.

It is being opposed in the states of Assam and North-East because the people there do not want to keep any foreigners in their state. After the implementation of the NRC, about 19 lakh people got out of it but under the new Citizenship Amendment Act Out of these, about 12 to 15 lakh people will get back citizenship of India.

Does Citizenship Amendment Act harms Indian citizen?

This new law will not harm any citizen living in India. The citizenship of India will not affect their citizenship with this new law Citizen Amendment Bill. The job of this citizenship law is to give citizenship, not to take citizenship. Therefore, no Indian has to be afraid of this new law Citizen Amendment Bill.
