DST Full Form is Department of Science & Technology. It was established on 3 May 1971. The Department of Science & Technology plays a pivotal role in promotion of science & technology in the country. The department has wide ranging activities such as promoting high end basic research, development of cutting edge technologies, service the technological requirements of the common man through development of appropriate skills and technologies.
DST Responsibilities
1 | Formulation of policies relating to Science and Technology. |
2 | Matters relating to the Scientific Advisory Committee to Cabinet. |
3 | National Council for Science and Technology Communication. |
4 | Science and Engineering Research Council/Board. |
5 | Promotion of new areas of Science and Technology with special emphasis on emerging areas. |
6 | Futurology. |
7 | Technology Development Board and related Acts such as the R&D Cess Act,1986 and the TDB Act,1995. |
8 | Support and Grants-in-aid to Scientific Research Institutions, Scientific Associations and Bodies. |
9 | National S&T Entrepreneurship Development Board. |
