DDT Full Form is Dichloro Diphenyl Trichloroethane. It is a odorless, colorless and tasteless poisonous for both humans and animals. DDT is a chemical that is not easily divided between the atmosphere and living things. Its substances can be founded in food and body fat and makes the tongue and lips useless when in excess. This damages the liver and kidneys and can also cause cancer.

Every year around 22 thousand people are killed in the world due to the toxic effects of pesticides, of which one third are Indians. In the process of killing insects, we also kill many beneficial insects by spraying pesticides in the fields. For example, earthworms are beneficial for farming. DDT History

DDT was first synthesized in 1874 and it was used in the second part of World War II to control malaria and typhus between civilians and soldiers. In 1970, around 386 million pounds of DDT were produced globally.

The United States used it most as a spray in 1959. And in the early 1970s, questions were raised concerning the negative effects of DDT on the environment and living organisms. In 1973, the US Environmental Protection Agency banned the use of DDT in the US.
